Fifth Grader Wins Contest

by Sue Rickert

March 13, 2008

Nicholas Eichelberger, fifth grade student at the Middle School, was selected as the winner of the Nebraska Veterinary Medical Association's annual poster contest.  Each year all fifth graders across the state are invited to participate in the NVMA's poster contest.  This year the theme was "Pets--The Spice of Life".  All of the FCMS fifth graders created posters that were sent to the District contest in conjunction with National Pet Week.  Nicholas' poster was selected by the NVMA at their annual convention in Lincoln.

Nicholas said he chose unusual pets to be on his poster.  "I chose a parrot and a reptile because they are neat and colorful, and easy to draw".  He was awarded a $50 savings bond as the prize.  He said, "I plan to save it for college."
