A new computer program called SmartMusic is being used by the middle school band students. This program allows students to play their assignments and then the computer evaluates their performance. The students know right after they play something if they played it right or wrong. They complete assignments, practice scale studies, and play their band music with this program.
Parents are encouraged to get the home subscription for their child. The cost is $25 per calendar year. If you are interested in getting the home subscription, go to smartmusic.com and enter our school code to get the special price. The code is FCMSBAND2007. When you enter this code it goes through with you step by step how to get the software for your use. Before getting the software for home use, make sure that your computer at home is compatible with the system requirements that SmartMusic requires. The system requirements are available on the website smartmusic.com. The only other cost to you would be a microphone that is used to record the students. The microphone is $19.95. The microphone is yours for this price.
