The FBLA State Leadership Conference is scheduled for April 3-5 in Omaha, and numerous members have been preparing for competitive events. One special event this year that chapter members are excitedly anticipating is campaigning for Caitlin Moore for state vice president. Caitlin began her bid for a state office back in January when she filed an extensive application. Her application won approval, so next she was invited to attend the state screening day on February 2 where she took an exam over FBLA facts and participated in an interview with the FBLA Board of Directors. The chapter was very excited when she received word that she would be one of 14 young men and women vying for one of six state office positions.
Caitlin has had two months to plan her campaign and has selected the theme, "Vote for C-Moore and See More Results". She is responsible for planning a two-minute speech which she will give to over 2,500 members and advisers in attendance at the State Leadership Conference on April 3. Caitlin also has to set up a campaign booth promoting her platform which will provide handouts and various items to members in attendance. Fillmore Central Chapter members will assist in manning this booth throughout the two days of campaigning. On Thursday evening, April 3, Caitlin will also participate in the formal caucus where she will be faced with numerous questions from the floor.
Competition is fierce with only the most qualified members running for a state office. Winners are announced Friday evening, April 4, and officially installed at the Awards Ceremony held on Saturday morning. Win or lose, this experience will be one that Caitlin and the chapter members will never forget. Good luck, Caitlin, at SLC in April!
