Fourth Grade Field Trips

by Lindsey Boyle and Jenny Eichelberger

April 29, 2008

On April 18 the fourth graders traveled to Lincoln to visit the Nebraska State Capitol.  We learned many interesting things about our Unicameral.  We also toured the Museum of Nebraska History.  It was a good review of all of the many things we have learned this year during Nebraska history.

Fourth grade students at Rock Creek Station.

On April 25 we went to Beatrice to visit Homestead National Park.  It was fun to learn about Daniel Freeman and the challenges pioneer families faced.  Next we were off to Fairbury to visit the Pony Express Station.  We walked along the Oregon Trail at Rock Creek Station.  It was a cold and rainy day.  The weather gave us insight as to what the first pioneers would have experienced during their first weeks of travel across Nebraska.
