Middle School Students Win Math Competition

Fillmore Central Middle School students competed at the Thayer
Central Math Competition and brought home the overall team trophy
and multiple other individual and team awards. Sixth graders:
Alyssa Stripe, Brooke Rassmussen and Emilie Krienert won the 6th
grade quiz bowl division. They competed against seven other
schools. Earning individual honors out of 24 students were: Alyssa
Stripe - 1st place answering 43 of 50 questions correctly, Emilie
Krienert - 2nd place, and Brooke Rassmussen - 4th place. Seventh
graders Beth Koca, Sally Moore, and Carley Yates combined to win
the 7th grade quiz bowl competing against eight schools. Earning
individual honors out of 27 students were: Carley Yates - 1st place
answering 45 of 49 questions correctly and Sally Moore taking 2nd
place. Eighth graders competed against eight teams. Madeline
Baltzer, Elizabeth Koca, and Kelsey Yates took top honors in the
8th grade quiz bowl. Earning individual medals were Madeline
Baltzer - 1st place answering 46 of 49 questions correctly, Kelsey
Yates - 3rd place, and Elizabeth Workentine - 4th place. The math
team had a great time and celebrated with some ice cream when they
returned home. Several participants requested to compete again next
