Fund raisers for 2008-09
ABC will serve 200 juniors,
seniors and adults during the Career in Fillmore County Day that
will be held on September 17. Beth Lightwine will be sending
additional information shortly. If you are able to help by
providing food or serve, please let me know. Currently ABC
gives two scholarships to deserving seniors. Funds raised
through this activity will provide dollars towards scholarships and
other activities sponsored by ABC.
Activities for Parent Advisory
Parent Advisory will assist
at Parent/Teacher conferences, handling out report cards and
providing parents with directions during fall and spring
conferences. Parents will also be involved with Principal
Honor Roll breakfast, National Honor Roll events, as well as
helping with events at the start of the second semester and the end
of the year for all 9-12 students. Any additional
suggestions?
Officers - elections
Elections of officers were
discussed. If you are interested in serving as President or
Secretary/Treasurer, please let me know.
Goals for this group for the 2008-09 school
year
We had a very nice turnout at
our first meeting, however, I would like more parents to
attend. I realize how busy senior high parents can be with
work, home and school events but I would love to have more parents
attend these informal, informational opportunities. Parents,
attending the meeting last night, heard about a variety of things
taking place at the high school. One of those items is a
program that would reward students that work to their academic
potential, have little if any discipline referrals and have no
attendance concerns.
SOCS – School Website
I am placing our first
meeting agenda/minutes on the SOCS website.
Monthly bulletins
School newsletters will not
be mailed during the 2008-09 school year, unless parents/patrons
request they be mailed. Instead, newsletters can be found on
SOCS and at various businesses in our communities.
New Way of Communicating School Closing
Information
Parents will receive a call
telling them of school closures by using the home telephone number
provided on student information sheets completed at the beginning
of the school year. (Inclement weather, school emergency
notices, etc.) If you would like a different telephone number
used, please contact Jodi Meyer at 759-4955.
