Peru State College Early Entry Program

by Jodi Meyer

July 04, 2009

Peru State College is offering dual enrollment programs intended to meet the needs of academically advanced students who are motivated, talented, and want to be challenged.  Two types of dual enrollments that high school students can participate in are:

  • Dual-credit enrolled students:  High school students who take a course for both college and high school credit.  High schools count these students in their average daily attendance.
  • Concurrent enrolled students:  High school students who take college courses for college credit only (no high school credit), while remaining enrolled in high school and counted in their school's average daily attendance.

In fall 2009, high school student can take dual credit and/or concurrent credit for only $50.00 per credit hour with no limits to the number of credits a student can take.  The student requirements to participate are:

  • Be a junior or senior in high school
  • Have a 3.0 GPA or higher
  • Be recommended by high school counselor or principal

Students can choose from many different general education courses as well as more advanced and specialized courses.  There are also two different formats a student can choose from:  the traditional 16 week courses or the accelerated 8 week courses.

Interested students can contact Mr. Rose or Mrs. Betts at 759-3141.
